Jenny Holzer | from “Cups for 1984” series (1983).
‘The series began in 1983 when Ronald Feldman of Ronald Feldman Fine Arts Gallery in Soho, New York invited a group of artists to create a series of work loosely inspired by the themes of George Orwell’s novel “1984″. Jenny Holzer, then an emerging artist, had 7 of her provocative sayings from her “Truisms for Survival” series printed onto a small stack of Styrofoam cups [via Red Flag Magazine].’
I mostly buy art magazines over fashion ones, although my favourite is 032c. I buy most issues of Kaleidoscope, The White Review, Acne Paper, as well as the occasional Fantastic Man. Mono.kultur is another favourite (the Dries issue is great)!
Tumblr has really replaced my need for editorial-heavy magazines, so I usually buy more feature-driven ones.
Riyo Nemeth | Fold (2009).
We featured Riyo in BITE Magazine Issue 02 (back in October 2011!); read the interview here.
